As an alternative to Entebbe, the Munyonyo area of Kampala is another prime location on the shores of Lake Victoria. It hosts several high-end resorts, like Speke Resort, which are popular venues for family celebrations. The scenery, featuring a vast expanse of water and tropical foliage, is identical to what is found in this part of Uganda's capital city. The view could be across Murchison Bay.

The visual evidence is strongly indicative of Lake Victoria, but not exclusively Uganda. Kisumu, Kenya's main port city on the lake, offers a very similar environment. Locations like Dunga Hill Camp are popular recreational spots with lakeside views that match the image. The climate, vegetation, and general landscape are virtually indistinguishable from the Ugandan side of the lake, making this a very plausible alternative.

Another possibility within the African Great Lakes region is Lake Kivu, on the border of Rwanda and the DRC. Cities like Gisenyi (now Rubavu) in Rwanda have lakeside beaches and hotels. While the surrounding terrain is often more mountainous than what's depicted, there are areas with flatter shorelines that could match. The tropical environment and culture of lakeside recreation are similar, presenting this as a viable, though less likely, alternative to Lake Victoria.
