The combination of a multi-lane highway with right-hand traffic, cut into a steep, densely vegetated hill, is highly characteristic of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as it approaches the hilly city of Ibadan. The vehicles visible, particularly the white van, are common forms of transport in Nigeria. The reddish soil visible on the shoulder and the lush tropical vegetation are also typical for Southern Nigeria. The overall scene strongly suggests a major road on the outskirts of a large, hilly West African city, with Ibadan being a prime candidate.

Yaoundé is famously built on seven hills, and its topography is an excellent match for the steep embankments seen in the image. As a right-hand traffic country with a similar tropical climate and vegetation to Nigeria, it presents a strong alternative. The highways entering Yaoundé, like the N3, cut through terrain that looks very similar to the photograph. This location is a plausible alternative if the specific Nigerian visual cues are misinterpreted.

Enugu, known as the 'Coal City', is situated in a hilly region of Nigeria. The visual evidence of a major highway cutting through lush, hilly terrain fits well with the landscape on the outskirts of Enugu, for example along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway. All environmental and infrastructural clues are consistent with this region of Nigeria, making it another solid candidate within the country.
