The combination of weathered, light-colored sandstone outcrops (including one with a small hole or arch), scattered juniper trees, and low-lying sagebrush on sandy soil is highly characteristic of the high-desert landscapes of northwestern New Mexico. The specific appearance of the geology and flora is an excellent match for the Ojito Wilderness area, which is known for these exact features along its hiking trails.

Located in the same San Juan Basin region of New Mexico, the Bisti Badlands feature similar geology with fantastical hoodoos and weathered rock. While many parts of Bisti are more barren, some areas have vegetation that could match the scene. It's a strong alternative, though the vegetation density in the photos seems slightly more typical of Ojito.

The rock formations with holes and the semi-arid vegetation could also match parts of southwestern Utah near Zion National Park. The juniper and sagebrush vegetation and the dry terrain are consistent with this region. However, the rock formations here are less iconic than in Colorado's Black Canyon area, so confidence is lower.
