The landscape is also a strong match for the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains, located in the KwaZulu-Natal or Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa. This region is geographically adjacent to Lesotho and shares a similar environment of rolling green and brown hills, comparable vegetation, and climate. The presence of a Black population is consistent with the demographics of these provinces.

Another plausible location is the highveld region of western Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). This area, particularly around the capital city of Mbabane, features a similar topography of rolling hills and mountains. The climate and vegetation are consistent with the visual evidence. While the terrain might be slightly more vegetated in some parts of Eswatini, many areas provide a close match to the scene.
