The image shows a large freshwater lake with a characteristic greenish tint and low hills in the background. The sailboat and rocky shore are typical of Lake Balaton in Hungary. The hills in the distance match the northern shore of Lake Balaton near Balatonfüred, a well-known town on the lake's northern coast. The water color and landscape are distinctive to this region.

This location is just west of the primary candidate, Balatonföldvár, on the southern shore of Lake Balaton. The view of the northern shore's landmarks (Badacsony and Tihany) would be very similar, making it a strong alternative. From this position, the Badacsony hill group on the left would appear slightly closer and larger, while the Tihany peninsula on the right would be more distant. Given the difficulty in judging precise distances from the photo, this remains a highly plausible vantage point.

Zamárdi is located east of Balatonföldvár, also on the southern shore of Lake Balaton. From here, the Tihany Peninsula would be significantly closer and more prominent in the view, while the Badacsony hills would be further in the distance to the west. The photo appears to show a more balanced distance between the two landmarks, making Zamárdi slightly less likely than Balatonföldvár, but it is still a very plausible candidate given it's on the correct shore of the correct lake, offering a similar, albeit shifted, panorama.
