The Philippines shares many visual characteristics with Indonesia. The style of the residential buildings, including the one with a slightly Spanish-colonial-influenced arch, would be at home in a Filipino city. The tangled overhead wiring ('spaghetti wires') is a very common sight. The tropical vegetation and warm climate are also consistent with the Philippines. The scene is visually indistinguishable from many residential 'barangays'.

This scene could also plausibly be in a residential neighborhood in a Brazilian city. The simple, functional concrete architecture, overhead wires, and the presence of cars parked on a narrow street are common. While the overall atmosphere feels slightly more like Southeast Asia, many working-class neighborhoods (favelas or bairros) in Brazil share a similar visual language. The vegetation could also fit parts of the country.
