This is an alternative possibility for a major Roman theater in the region. However, the Roman Theatre of Bosra is constructed from black basalt, which is visually distinct from the light-colored limestone seen in the image. Additionally, the modern city surrounding the Bosra theater does not match the dense, steep, and modern urban hillside depicted in the photograph.

Aspendos in Turkey is another one of the world's best-preserved Roman theaters. However, it differs significantly from the image. The Aspendos theater has a nearly complete stage building (scaenae frons), which is not present in the photo. More importantly, it is located in a more rural, archaeological park setting and is not integrated into the base of a large, modern, densely populated city hill like the one shown.
