The combination of a large freshwater body (resembling a reservoir), reddish lateritic soil, rolling hills in the background, and tropical broadleaf vegetation is highly characteristic of the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, particularly around the Furnas Reservoir (Represa de Furnas). This area is a major hub for tourism and recreation, and the landscape in the image is a perfect match for the countless coves and shores of the reservoir. The boy's appearance is also consistent with the region.

This landscape is also very common in the interior of São Paulo state, especially around the reservoirs of the Cantareira system, such as the Atibainha Reservoir near Nazaré Paulista. This region features similar hilly terrain, reddish soil, and vegetation. Being close to the São Paulo metropolitan area, these reservoirs are popular recreational spots, making this a very plausible alternative location.

A third possibility is Brazil's Center-West region, for example, the state of Goiás. The landscape around large reservoirs like Lago Corumbá IV fits the visual evidence. This region is dominated by the Cerrado biome, which often features reddish soil and forested areas near water sources that resemble the scene. While perhaps less iconic than Minas Gerais for this specific type of landscape, it remains a strong contender.
